Audiometry

Cogent Thinking provides audiometric screening conducted to the Australian Standard AS/NZS 1269.4:2014, using the latest in computer based audiometric software.

Reports from our screening can be provided to the employee and/or employer on the same day as the screening is performed. If the screening picks up any deficits, Cogent Thinking has a network of Audiologists who can performed in-depth confirmatory tests to further investigate the findings.

The Occupational Audiometry assessment is an effective indication of the impact of a workplace on an employee’s hearing.

There are four different types of audiometry tests:

STANDARD TEST

Standard Audiometry is performed ad hoc

REFERENCE TEST

The hearing test results will be used to record a base line for the candidate/employer

MONITORING TEST

The hearing test is usually done every 12 months to 2 years depending on the workplace. This test is to monitor possible hearing loss in the workplace

FULL AUDIOMETRY ASSESSMENT WITH AUDIOLOGIST IN CLINIC

For positive screening results this would be an escalated process to establish the extent of the damage and action plan

The person whose hearing is being tested listens to sounds transmitted by the certified screener and presses a button to signal when they have heard a sound. During a hearing test, the certified screener will play different frequencies of sound via a machine in a sound booth at very low frequencies. Sounds gradually increase these levels until the sound is audible.
