Calls to our 24/7 injury hotline are answered by an experienced and qualified health professional with RTW experience. This allows injured employees to get access to immediate care while being provided with recommendations and documentation in line with best practice Recover@Work strategies.
At the time of the call, Cogent collates all the necessary data requirements that we know to be important to you, as well as documenting clear and best practice First Aid injury management advice. Cogent consultants will provide appropriate activity advice to support workers and managers with a safe and sustainable Recover@work outcome.
Where deemed medically appropriate, Cogent can assist injured employees with getting a medical appointment (General Practitioner and/or Physiotherapy) at a time and location agreed to by the manager and injured employee. Cogent’s vast national network of healthcare professionals allows us to provide priority bookings within the same or next business day. When necessary, Cogent can dispatch an emergency physician into the triage call to assist with providing timely and specific medical advice, and education to the injured employee and manager.
Cogent will always follow up with the injured employee, manager and Treating Health Practitioner (if engaged) the following day. During the follow up, we obtain updated injury and work capacity information, and collate all medical documentation. We then provide a detailed handover to the Return to Work team for ongoing care and management if a return to normal duties has not been achieved during Cogent’s 3 day handle time.
