Pre-Existing Ailment Reviews

What is a pre-existing ailment?

A pre-existing ailment is one where signs or symptoms of an ailment, illness or condition, in the opinion of a medical practitioner appointed by a Private Health Fund, existed at any time during the six months preceding the day on which an individual purchased hospital insurance or upgraded to a higher level of hospital cover.

Cogent has a panel of medical practitioners who support Private Health Insurers in reviewing medical information and making pre-existing condition determinations in a timely manner to support expedient claims management.
